Favorite Customer Moments

I am working 4 days at the bookstore this week, and 5 days next week. This part time job has morphed into a little more than I want, but I am putting the brakes on more than 3 days a week after this. (I still want a little summer time!) Some favorite moments from this week:
  • The young rapper who was experiencing writer's block. (Seriously? You have to be inspired to write lyrics like, "This is why I'm hot. This is why I'm hot. This is why, this is why, this is why I'm hot." ??? I think not.) He wanted a rhyming dictionary. I wanted to tell him that I didn't think that there was an Oxford Rhyming Dictionary of Extremely Offensive Words. However, he seemed happy when he did his gimp-limp strut out of the store with his ordinary rhyming dictionary. And music is sure to live on.
  • "Do you have the book, How to Kill A Mockingbird? I can't find it on the computer." Oh honey, it isn't a "how-to" book. Yep. *sigh* (Keep smiling. Keep smiling.)

I'm back at the bookstore in just a few short hours. I remind myself that I get a free book a week and a discount on new and used titles. And the amusing customers are just one more perk.

Sounds like the perfect job on several levels! You could write a book about your stint as a book shop clerk! hee hee hee You should hear the stories I get working at my little tiny town post office. People mistaken me for a bartender and start telling me their problems...
