Random: MJ, Art, Crocs, and Poetry

I am working 5 days this week at the bookstore. Long shifts. A lot of people are on vacation, so I guess I am doing my part by covering. In spite of long nights, there have been a couple of reasons to celebrate this week.

  1. Art Garfunkel tickets!! The Mr. went online and purchased tickets to a concert this fall. I love Simon and Garfunkel. I wish they were still together, but I will settle for one half of the duo. The concert is in a small, intimate venue near here. It is always fun to have something to look forward to.
  2. My fur-lined, mammoth crocs (ugliest shoe known to man, I know!) made standing on my feet for six hours bearable last night! I am making calls to find someone in town who sells them, so I can pick up another pair to rotate into the shoe cycle.
  3. My schedule for next week: two days!! Ah, the manager does listen when I say I only want 2 or 3 days a week.
  4. The Mr. let me sleep in until 8:45 this morning. Of course, that means I didn't get my walk in, but maybe I'll go every other day this week. I really needed that sleep!

Working too much this week, but I did find a used copy of a poetry book that I have had my eye on for several years. With my discount, it should be an affordable price now. The other perk: I haven't had to watch all the Michael Jackson coverage. Don't get me wrong. MJ was part of my childhood, and I love a lot of his music--but enough!! There has to be something else going on in the world.

If you want comfort without the bright colors, try Dansko shoes - you can order them online at zappos.com or The Walking Store in the mall. I started wearing Danskos after I developed plantar fasciatis and I'm now addicted. I can stand for hours without pain. I've given up on anything from Kohls, Payless, Target, or department stores.

Just the words, "fur-lined, mammoth crocs" put quite an ugly picture in my mind! And they make me laugh, too! I would love to see a photo of them! I've got to google that!

I'm with you on two points here: too much working at bookstores is, well, too much working and working too much is a blessing if it keeps you too busy to catch any MJ news at all. I've seen nil.

I agreed...Michael Jackson was a huge talent but the coverage was way overblown...take care!
