Swimming Lessons With the Girls

I have been thinking about when the girls were little and taking swim lessons. K was four when she started. L was too little to take lessons so every day for a solid two weeks, L stood at the fence crying "I want to go 'simming,' too!" After 30 minutes of her crying every day for ten solid days, the pool manager said that she wished she had just let the child take lessons.

When L finally was old enough to take lessons, she spent a lot of time on the top step in the shallow end. She would exit lessons with only the ends of her long blonde hair wet. One of my students was her teacher, so I asked him about her hair never being wet on top. He said, "Mrs. E, she doesn't want to go under the water. I try to talk her into it, but those big blue eyes...!!" Yep, she already knew how to charm the guys. And it would serve that student right to be married to some cute girl with big blue eyes. Such a sucker for the ladies!

That is cute! It sounds like your girl had him wrapped around her finger! My mom brought me to swimming lessons when I was little. I'm not sure how old, but before kindergarten. I spent the entire series of classes watching from the sidelines! My mom didn't know until the very last class. They never told her that I didn't get in the water! (I need to use that as my memories one week!)

Thank you for joining Monday Memories!

What a precious story! I use to dive in head and all and now I am a kinda "ends wet" only gal myself ~ so I can see L's feeling on that one!

Your blog always makes me happy too! Now I am on to read more, I have a lot of catching up to do!!!
Happy Blessings, Katie

my mom just snatched me from the teacher, marched me to the end of the diving board and flung me, shrieking, from the end of it.
personally, i think she'd been waiting five years for a valid excuse to do it.
