Salsa Making

The tomatoes and jalapenos were gaining on us, so we called in reinforcements--L. After turning the camera on herself (always! I've more pictures of her on my camera than any other person. I think she believes I'll forget who she is!!), she taught me to make a very simple fresh salsa. Her recipe is my favorite kind--no measurements. You need tomatoes, jalapenos, onion, cilantro, garlic, lime juice and salt. She doesn't like my small (mini) food processor, so we used the blender.
L gave me a lesson in how to cut fresh cilantro. And I got a lesson in just how hot jalapenos are even without their seeds. (Not my smartest move to pop a bit of chopped jalapeno in my mouth! L looked at me like "DUH"!!)
.
The Mr. loves hot salsa and I like mild, so we made two different batches--his had the jalapeno seeds and mine didn't.
.
That's it. Fresh salsa that will keep in refrigerator for a week or two. I discovered that it is better after it has chilled. Yum, good stuff!
.
The tomatoes are under control again. Whew! Next up: learning how to preserve it so we can have fresh salsa year round!

Just stopping by to express my tomato envy and to request an act of public service. I'm waiting for the Mrs. E's Recommended Reading blog...the time you would save me at the local library....

Yum, that looks delicious! Now I just need my tomatoes to ripen without something (slugs?) eating them first!

L is so pretty. I like your line that she thinks you might forget who she is!
