It's Official

Today is the last day of school.  Woo hoo!  I have about 20 finals to grade and then I can turn in my grades for the year.  The check-out list won't take long, and I will close my door on another year.

Yesterday, I was suffering a spring cold.  After having the heart monitor taken off in the afternoon, I slept for a couple of hours and felt almost alive again.

Tonight the girls are coming home to clean through the closets of their old rooms.  They are sorting through the momentos of childhood, packing away some and getting rid of others.  The plan is to make room for L to move in for the summer.  Her lease is up the end of June and while she will return to the same school to teach next year, she isn't sure where she wants to live.  (CG might have something to do with that indecision.)

On the other hand, K is probably concerned that she'll inherit boxes of things that she may not want any more.  She's probably worried with a wedding in the future, the Mr. and I just might decide to load up some of her things and let her store them for awhile.  (The thought has crossed my mind!)

It will be good to clean through their old rooms and get rid of some of the old clothes and clutter.  Summer seems like a good time to lighten the load of "stuff" we have accumulated.  I'm not sure I would have chosen to start it the first evening of the last day of school, but the sooner I get to it-- the sooner I can spend my summer doing what I want.

So what are the plans for the summer?
Reading, reading, reading... and getting back to running.  (I need all these medical tests to be done first!)  Actually, I haven't planned much further than that.  It is a luxury not to have every minute scheduled.

At 4:00 today, my summer vacation officially begins.  And at 4:05 the closet cleaning begins.  Lazy days of summer?  Those will have to wait until next week!

Summer vacation starts early there! My high school son has another week. Enjoy and take it easy, a little at a time.

Enjoy the time with your girls - even if you ARE cleaning and decluttering. I definitely should have that on my agenda this summer. But I can always seem to find something else to do and it gets carried over onto the next to-do list. Happy last day!

Remember,if,in your cleaning, you find a small Raggedy Ann./Andy doll, Betsy has the companion to it--(he or she) and would love to see it.
Grandma C. gave it to them as babies (I am guessing K. has the girl and J. has the boy. They were born about the same time and little did she know that those dolls would be so popular.

I think it's a great idea! You'll get to spend time with the girls - always a plus - and then you will feel so accomplished! No matter what else gets done (or not done), you can always say you got through those closets!

Cleaning, reading (lots of it!, catching up on movies, and walking/water aerobics are on my list! Our principal is nice enough to let us leave when we are done!
Have a good last day! :D
