Well, my former student JV has had 15 of the 18 chemo treatments he needs. He's been a trooper through all of them, but number 15 has given him problems. His blood counts have been all out of whack, and they have had to postpone treatment number 16 for two weeks in a row now.
To top it off, JV has been a bit down. It is impossible to explain how huge that is. He has been the spark that has kept the rest of us looking for the good. JV has been positive and funny and courageous from the first. He lost his hair and joked about it. He's been sick and bounced every time. He's been to football games and sat on the sidelines in his wheelchair. He has sung with the choir and has been in school every chance he gets, always laughing and smiling as he rolls through the halls.
And now, he is tired and running out of steam. He can't go to school because his immune system couldn't take a setback. He can't be around his friends or the people who care so much about him.
Blog world, would you please pray for a 17 year old boy who has been through hell for the past eight months? (I tried, I just couldn't think of any other way to say it.) Just last March, everything was so normal and then the bottom fell out of his world.
If it is possible to love someone through such a rotten time, could you please help our whole community do just that?
You'll just have to take my word for it when I tell you that JV is one of the good guys--maybe one of the great guys. They don't come much better.

I don't see how anyone under his circumstances wouldn't lose hope.
Love, hugs and prayers for he and his family.
