And so it begins...

First day back to school for the 2012-2013 school year.  Teachers have inservice today and tomorrow.

The good:  it will be great to see everyone and get into a routine.

The bad:  having life controlled by the bells.  Getting a drink when I'm thirsty, talking to a colleague, or even going to the bathroom has to wait until a passing period.

Hopefully by the end of the day, I will feel more prepared.  I know I still have quite a bit to do.

Meanwhile, this is my best friend:
I will use less paper as the year progresses, but for right now...!

OK.  Let the games begin!

I think the bathroom thing is the hardest, but then meds make it tougher for me!
Yes, the copier, what would we do without it?!
Good luck to you. I'm starting to seriously plan. We do not have inservice and teacher's day until the 27th and 28th. School begins Sept. 4th after Labor Day and the Noble County Fair. I think we are the last school district in Ohio to start school each year. Personally, I love it! Of course, it means shorter Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter breaks so we can get out May 31st, but to me, it is worth it.
(Ask me that again, the year I have everyone here on Thanksgiving and have to teach school until 2:00 the previous day!)

I just finished Mockingjay. I am getting the third book this week. I may teach The Hunger Games this year. I have enjoyed the first two books.
They have really made me think about repression and deprivation, esp. since I finished Grapes of Wrath right before reading Mockingjay.
The tipping point seems to be when it starts to affect the younger children. It's one thing to be hungry yourself or to be mistreated, but it's intolerable when its your kids. (The starvation of the "Okies'" kids and the death of Rue and threat to Prim are just examples.)
I'll be praying for a great week for you!:>)

Hope your mini-vacation will see you through the first few days, OK.

I would hate not being able to have a drink when I needed it. I had never thought about it before - surely it can't be good for teachers. (Apart from being unpleasqant for you.) I know I can often avert a migraine by drinking a lot of water.

Why does your school year start so early? (Although I bet the parents like it..this will be the first year in 22 years that we don't have a kid in school)
