Friday Favorites

In spite of the craziness, it has been a good week.

Parent/Teacher conferences were painless.  Lately, Tiny Town Conferences are more like a gathering of relatives that I don't know very well.  Even the new parents are quickly absorbed into the family.  We all have an investment in the same people:  their kids.  I met some amazing parents this year.

On a side note, the secretaries and counselor sold a lot of tickets for the show during conferences.  Bless. Their.  Hearts.  They had the tickets at the entry door, and many stopped to buy.

Meeting with other English teachers at league meeting made me feel like I am on top of Core Standards work.  Several are going to be really great resources.  (And a couple of them I would love to have for colleagues.)

Rehearsals have all been about memorizing lines and blocking.  The majority of the kids are prepared.  If I can get the scripts out of their hands, it is so much easier to work on characters.

This morning, I am headed down to watch the Mob song and Battle scene blocked.   A former student-turned theater major-turned college graduate is home and agreed to help his old teach.  I can't wait to see him in action!

Of course, the highlight of the week was a family reunion.  My dad has a big family.  My thirty-eight first cousins are a diverse and interesting group--with a pretty great sense of humor.  They always make me laugh.  These two are usually the highlight of a white elephant auction.
Here they are auctioning off Crazy Cousin Ree's "Baby Shoes."  (It helps that cRaZy Ree lives on the East Coast and isn't there to defend herself.) Oh, and don't feel too sorry for Ree.  Trust me when I tell you that she has it coming!

OK.  There might be a couple of highlights to the week.  The Bug usually tops almost anything.  I haven't seen her much this week, but I hear she has taken up "singing."  I can't wait to hear that.
She is such a busy girl. Besides the singing, I hear she has been doing quite a bit of time-out.  Mama isn't crazy about her hitting when she doesn't get her way.  Poor Bug.

And I have to share this adorable stool.

I guess if her mama is going to make her sit in a corner, she might as well have a royal throne to sit on and serve her time.  And do you think I could get one of those for a couple of sophomores??  (She doesn't really do time-out here. This stool is too cute to be a naughty chair!!)

It has been a good week, but I am so glad for a three day weekend.  I'm off to rehearsal, then planning on a nap.  I'm full of exciting plans!

Yes, I think that explains a lot. That West Virginia is on the East Coast. Actually, "The Mask" has been having a lot of fun with that one!
