Randomness

*Monkey socks.  Sock monkey socks.  Who knew they'd be so hard to find in women's sizes?  No, I'm not making sock monkeys; I just want to wear them on my cold feet.  Dad will be so proud of me.  I even shopped at the farm store while I was looking for them.  Had to purchase hunting boot socks instead.  I'm pretty sure they were cheaper!  Still, who wouldn't want monkey socks?

*Speaking of Dad, he gave me an old family treasure this year.
If you look closely at the tree, you'll see it at top center.  Yes, that is a carrot (dilapidated though it may be) on my Christmas tree.  It was Mom's and hung on her very first Christmas tree, circa 1932.  The shiny carrot that is down and to the left of the old carrot was a gift from Little Sister.  She sent one to each of us. I think we all figured the original had perished in the fire that took most of Dad and B's things in storage; however, Dad found it this year and thought it needed a home.  I am so glad to have it.

*I am in the process of hunting a really good black eyed peas recipe.  K sent me her Black Eyed Peas Soup recipe.  Bet you can guess what we are having for New Year's Day.  (Good luck for 2013)

*Baxter and I have resumed our evening walks.  (Ever since I sprained my ankle at Thanksgiving, I have been taking it pretty easy.)  And it has been COLD!  I look a bit like a snowman when we head out.

*Easy Street has the only street/hill in town that still has snow/ice on it from the snow before Christmas.  The city didn't scrape it, and the trees shade it from the sun.  I have to walk in the ditch on crunchy snow to avoid the ice on the street/drive.  And of course, Baxter pulls as hard as he can, trying to get me slip sliding with him.  Naughty dog.  He's pretty glad to be out and about again.

*My piano is in desperate need of tuning, especially if the Lady Bug is going to keep playing it so much!

*Newest love:  hot chocolate with pink peppermint mini marshmallows.  Very festive and quite yummy!

*The end of the year usually finds me re-reading the year's worth of blogging.  I guess I'm looking at where I've been, before thinking about where we're heading.  There's a good chance that tomorrow you'll get 2012 in review.

*A little Auld Lang Syne for your last days of 2012.

This may be my favorite version.  So beautiful!  (Who am I kidding?  I love them all!)

Happy Sunday!

I thought the carrot was a dilapidated, much worn mouse! The things we all end up caring about--just part of our uniqueness and a wonderful thing it is.:>)
