Update #2

I went to the funeral home last night for a former student who died late last week. His death has shocked his family and friends. He was a classmate of K's, and he's leaving behind two little boys who are never going to remember their dad. Sad, sad deal.

The Mr. had the outpatient surgical procedure on the other leg this morning. This leg wasn't as bad as the first, but the procedure took longer and has made him a bit sicker. That being said, the first was quite successful. Maybe by tomorrow morning, he'll think he is as good as new.

This is rival school week. This is one of the oldest high school football rivalries west of the Mississippi, but not all the competition happens on the field. There will be a bonfire and the traditional competition for charity. Our two high schools choose a charity and then compete to see which school can raise more money for the cause. Both Student Council presidents present the check to the charity or cause at halftime. We have helped quite a few people and families through the years. (The schools take turns choosing the cause.) This is a positive way to compete instead of dropping outhouses on school lawns, diesel fueling the fields, or tearing down goalposts--all shenanigans of the years before the charity competition.

And that's the latest from Easy Street, where Baxter is ready for us to go back to work so he can have the house to himself again! I think we are cramping the mutt's style.

Sorry to hear about your ex-student. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I hope Mr. E will soon be feeling much better.

Have fun with your kids at school events.
