Spending the Afternoon With L's 1st Grade

When L was little her favorite book was "The Gingerbears' First Christmas." It is about gingerbread cookies coming to life at Christmas. So today, I took half a personal day and visited her 1st grade classroom. I read her book to them, and then we iced gingerbread cookies. It was so much fun. The kids were pretty wound up. They ate a lot of frosting and almost every one of them had it on their hands and faces. They loved L's book and got a kick out of the 'drawings' she had crayoned in it when she was little. They hugged and hugged me while I was there. (L gets lots of hugs.) The only downer was when a little girl threw up while we were decorating cookies. (Flu)

L's kids are a hoot. One little one said, "True or False? Can women grow facial hair?" I said probably, and he said, "Nope. False. It is physically impossible." Where do they get this stuff?? They were so excited today, they were practically bouncing! It is fun to see how much they love school and their teacher, but I think I'll keep my sophomores. (They can make it to the bathroom when they puke!)
