Sunday Afternoon Drives

In small town America, there isn't much to do. This is true almost every day, not just Sundays. Sometimes the Mr. and I go for a Sunday drive, which makes us a little more stereotypical than I would like! On this particular Sunday, we were looking for a vineyard that has recently gone in just outside of town. Believe it or not, it is some kid's 4-H project! I heard his wine was a hit at the State Fair last fall. (I think the young man will be in high school next year. Maybe this will morph into his FFA project?? Either that or a great Christmas gift for his teachers!!)We never did find the vineyard, although I suspect it was behind a thick grove of trees. However, this road has long been a favorite of nature lovers and teenagers. It added a nice layer of dust to my car, but at least we were able to travel it. This road doesn't get a lot of use, and even less in rainy weather. Maybe next time, we'll actually find the vineyard! So for my Sunday Snapshot--a road trip, small town style.

Love your entry today! Especially the bridge. And what a great story. We have a cool railroad bridge near where I live. So, you inspired me. I will try to get a shot of that. It's terrifying to drive over!!

I'm from the midwest, too. That's why my blogs are about the simpler things in life. There isn't much to do in small towns in the midwest, so you have to be creative and learn to appreciate nature and old historical things. Great post!

Hi-I loved your post! I think you gave me some ideas for future posts, too. Sunday drives are the BEST in our area, too. That is SOME project that young man had. It is a bummer you couldn't find it.
Take care,

That is such a peaceful looking road. Wow, a vineyard was a kid's 4-H project?!

Oh those 4-H projects... And to think I just wanted to decorate a cake!

Great post! As a small town blogger myself, I enjoy reading those of others!

Lovely. I do believe every teacher would enjoy a good flask of wine from the science project vineyard in lieu of the shiney, red apple. I wish I'd thought of that project when I was in school- coulda used the extra A.
