Summer Job

Today I'm filling out the paperwork to begin the part-time job in a bookstore. I'm pretty sure the Mr. thinks I need to be doing something or it is going to be a long summer. (I get bored fairly rapidly!) This will not be like teaching school--more like being the student. I have a lot to learn, and I'm pretty sure my "teachers" will be about half my age. It should be a great change of pace. I'll only be working 15-20 hours a week, so I'll still have plenty of time for other summer fun. I won't be in charge while I'm there, and when I leave work--I'll actually be leaving work!! (Anyone in education knows what I mean.) And if this works out, I may have found my line of work for when I'm semi-retired! But that will only work if I actually get a paycheck and don't take it all out in books and coffee!

Elk, they are setting up my training time today after I fill out the paper work. You know what they say about old dogs and new tricks! We'll see how this all goes.

Puna, this is summer junk reading time right now! I've been reading some Debbie Macomber. I had not read her before. I'm also re-reading the 6th Harry Potter before the movie comes out. A new Janet Evanovich and Jane Green are coming out this month--both favorite summer reads! Finally, my daughter gave me Elizabeth Edwards book "Resilience" and said I have to read it. She really liked it. However, if I discover any great finds at the bookstore this summer--I'm sure you'll read about it! : )

Hello!

I've just found your blog and I really like it.
Working in a bookstore sounds like a dream. I have a huge pile I want to make a start on but time seems to constantly get the better of me. I need a holiday...

If you get a moment, take a look at my blog.

All the best,
Selina

Oh, how I love bookstores and libraries! Yes, I think I would end up taking my pay in books. Have fun!

Perfect. I am a buyer for a small, educational bookstore. I love to be around books all the time. Check out my blog for a new orange book you should read, perhaps. I'm almost done w/it.

I hope you'll love the bookstore job.

Ayayay... I need a summer job. My credit card bill is high :( Unfortunately I think with the trip coming up it's unrealistic that people would hire me for such a short time span.

That being said, I'm jealous because I know you will have a great time working at a bookstore! Think of all the great books you get to read, too!

I love it! This is my plan once Sloane is grown. I hope I'll be able to work in an independently owned bookshop. That would be so lovely.
