Test Day #1

The title of this post fits in more ways than one.

Baxter survived his first day at home without us yesterday.  Test #1.  He was so good.  Since the Mr. makes it home over lunch, he could give Mr. B a trip outdoors and some holding time.  When I got home at 4, Baxter was so glad to see me.  I got lots of puppy kisses.  And can you believe it? Not one mess! He didn't even use the paper.  He waited to be taken outside.  Do you think this is just the honeymoon period?  I don't know if it can be possible to have a puppy this easy to train!

Then, today is the day at school for Test #1.  My sophomores will be logging onto computers and taking Section 1 of the 3 part State Reading Assessment while their teacher holds her breath. Sections 2 and 3 are tomorrow.  By the time the last student finishes, we will know exactly how each did.  I'm nervous.  I always am when things are out of my control! I sent them out yesterday with orders to go to bed early, eat breakfast, and to do their best on the test.  Time will tell...!

I ran the first day of Week 5 of Couch Potato to 5K.  On Saturday of this week I am supposed to run two miles.  I guess that will be my test-- to see if I can make it!  On a side note, the skunk that darted across the street in front of me freaked me out a bit this morning.  Nothing like the sight of that to wake me up in the morning!!

I'm in awe of your disciplined life- early morning running, even with skunks and all that. Devout blogger. I'm always nervous when I'm not in control, too and when I have to take a state standardized test. Those poor kids.

And way to go Baxter dude! It appears you have the pick of the litter- the smartest pup of the lot. Nice.

Good luck to you Teach, it's clear to me the excellent job you do- even if the standardized tests don't tell it. I don't put much stock in them, personally.

What a Baxter! Pretty glad we are done with that part, but it really wasn't bad at all. I am on week 3 and have been so happy and surprised by the plan. Haven't been sore and it doesn't seem too hard at all. Have a good week - and I am sure your kids will do great!

Yes Mrs. E it is possible to have a puppy that easy to train. My dog only had three accidents in the house before she was completely potty trained. One of which I could take the blame for. Good luck- I hope Baxter keeps up the good work!

Sounds like you are kicking butt on all fronts! (Okay, really, Baxter should get the credit for that first test.) Way to go encouraging the kids and giving them great advice - I always loved those teachers in high school.

Way to go with your running! You are keeping me motivated to stay out there and conquer new territory. :)
