Randomly Yours

1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?
I love, love, love that white cheese dip with flour tortilla chips.  Not a dish, I know!

2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?
Oh, holy cow.  I NEVER started on it until Sunday evening-- if then.  I hated Sundays because of the homework that I had put off and didn't want to do.  Monday mornings made me sick--knowing that I hadn't done the work.  And yes, I'm a teacher now.  *sigh*  (I sooooo "get" the students who act just like I did.)

3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings?
I don't really have one.  I guess I'll go with local antique stores.

4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?
It was a toss up.  On one hand you had government commodities where we were given more breaded tomatoes (looked like vomit), stewed plums and prunes, black olives, and very strange peanut butter than any child could possibly want to consume.  Ever.

On the other hand we had cooks who made the best baked goods ever:  cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, cake, and kolaches.  yum!

5. Is religion a crutch?
I think it can be.  It can also be an excuse for being intolerant and judgmental.
The flip side is it can be a great comfort and an incredible instrument for love and charitable work.

6. In your region, what is the "big" (most popular in the community or state) high school sport?
I'm going with football or basketball.  It is a tie.  For me personally, football!

7. Do you consider yourself rich?
A teacher?  Ha!!  We've been frozen so many times that they may have to do cryogenics using teachers as their experimental subjects.

Am I rich?  I might be the wealthiest person in the world, in terms of family, work I love, friends, and people who care about me.

8. Which of these would you have the best chance for success in administering:
A) CPR
B) Heimlich Maneuver
C) Changing a flat tire
My answer on this one is nothing short of scary.  I've done none of the above--ever.  I wore a dress the day we changed tires in Driver's Ed. and then got married.  (Sorry Mr.!  It wasn't all about love.  I needed someone to change my tires, too!)  I've never had CPR training.  I'm going with the Heimlich.  If little kids can do it, surely I could!

9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:
A) Salsa
B) Hip Hop
C) Waltz
D) Swing
I have two left feet, and the Mr. is a good dancer.  Sad.  I'm going with D. swing.  Not that I'd be good at it, but I love flapper dresses! (Though that may be Jitterbug???)

10. What's the worst news you've ever delivered to someone?
I think I block it out, but I did have to tell students (who hadn't heard the news and didn't know what was going on) that a classmate had committed suicide.  Hardest day of teaching ever.

11. Name something you learned in college that had nothing to do with classes or academics.
Hmmm... I guess I learned how to live on almost nothing and be married at the same time.  It might have been tough at the time, but looking back--those were great years!

12. New variation on an old question: If there's a song in your head that just won't get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?
"We fall down and We get up
We walk proud and We talk tough
We got heart and We got nerve
Even if we are a bit disturbed...
These are my people..."  There it is...grammar errors and all!

Happy Middle of the Week.  First quiz in Sophomore English today.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Great answers. I can't imagine having to tell your students of a classmate's death. Horrible. We are def rich! Thanks for sharing. Blessings, SusanD

"...grammar errors and all!..." Haahaahaa!! I'm with you on the favorite home furnishings store...my faves are my neighbors' garages. Best to all the students today- on the quiz. And good luck to the Teach, who makes it all happen in that classroom, those kids are soooo lucky!!

Ahhh! Queso! YUM!

I SO get those students who acted just like US too! LOL! I still had to TRY to convince a couple of my OWN not to be like that... but it didn't work!

I'm pretty sure queso dip can be considered a meal : ) I feel the same way as you about changing a tire...isn't that something we paid extra for on the insurance premium...I am not a tire changing kind of girl either.

Hopefully there were no procrastinators in sophomore English today!

Lol I love the line about "grammar errors and all". I gotta start skipping over the Mexican food questions when I'm reading these. They make me hungry for things I shouldn't be eating at the moment :p

Getting caught up on all my blogs, finally! Re: the first question, can you believe I'm in the middle of TX and don't like Mexican food? WHen I first moved here, we went out for Mexican and I had such horrible food poisoning that it took me forever to even try it again. Now I can tolerate a few things (mostly queso and quesadillas), but not by choice!

YOU HAD COOKS WHO MADE KOLACHES? Unbelievable! The best thing we got was the potato candy: basically is was sugar wrapped in peanut butter.
