All the Latest

So this is the latest on Easy Street:

*Baxter has managed to chew through his 2nd leash, and we've only had him since the end of February.  The Mr. has purchased him a 3rd one, and this Mrs. has insisted suggested that "playing with the leash" is one game that Bax should be through playing.  (Now if I could just convince the Mr.) To be fair, Baxter has eaten a remote and an ink pen, too.  He might not be the smartest dog on the block!

*Our next door neighbor lost his battle with cancer.  He never made it back home.  His bone marrow transplant was unsuccessful, so this seemed an inevitable ending to his story.  Breaks my heart for his wife.

*Today is the end of the nine weeks.  I can't believe we are aleady through a quarter of this year.  Hopefully, only one more nine weeks in Trailer High.  Knocking on wood that the new school will be ready to go by the first of January!

*My wrists and thumbs have been aching.  I'm not sure if arthritis or walking Baxter is the culprit.  Have I mentioned that walking Baxter twice a day (on a leash!) is a necessity?  It helps him to burn off some of that excess energy. My thumb gets a workout from working the catch on his leash.  Every rock, leaf, bug, or bit of trash is food for him. Everything goes in his mouth.  (Hence, the remote and the ink pen!)  I spend the entire walk reining him in. (OK, so maybe it isn't arthritis!)

*A root canal is in my future.  Remember that tooth that needed a crown?  Well, now it needs a root canal first.  I'm guessing my dental bill will be about $1500 by the time it is all said and done.  Yes, dentistry is a luxury. Talk about a bummer!

*A dear aunt has been having a rough time since having back surgery.  I know she is surrounded by kids who will take good care of her, but she is used to being quite independent. I'm praying she will be back on her feet soon!

*Cool temperatures mean bonfires, bowls of soup, and flannel sheets. I've dug out the long sleeved shirts for running in the early morning. The trees are beginning to turn and pumpkins are dotting porches around town.  I love this time of year.

Happy Thursday!

Sorry to hear about your neighbor's passing, and your dear aunt having a rough time after back surgery.

A root canal, ugh.

Cool temps with bonfires, soup and flannel sheets sounds wonderful to me. It is still in the 80's and feels like it's in the low 90's down here. We had really cool temps last week, but unfortunately they didn't last.

I can't believe you've gone through your first quarter at school either. Hope you get to move into the new school in January too.

Enjoy the rest of this week ~ FlowerLady

I know what you mean about dentistry. I can't believe the amount of money I spend at the dentist each year for a family of five.

Maybe the Mr. can get one of those rope toys to play with Baxter with instead of the leash. Some dogs love those.

At least they discovered you needed the root canal *before* they put the crown on. Go ahead and guess what happened to me last year. :)

So sorry about your neighbor, and your aunt. It certainly puts my week in perspective. I think I need to stop complaining and start appreciating the joys of the season: pumpkin pickin' with the girls on Saturday, lows in the 40s, apples constantly on sale, and lots and lots of football.

Oh, flannel sheets...I love them. Especially the ones we have with the little snowmen on them. So toasty. But alas, we are still snuggling in cotton sheets and have yet to turn on the furnace. It's gorgeous out today and I'm here with all of the family room windows open, curtains blowing in the breeze.

I love this time of the year, too. It'll be a few more months until we put the flannel sheets on the bed.
Sounds like Baxter needs a visit from Cesar. :)

I couldn't think what to post, but yours has given me an idea- I like All the Latest. May I steal?

I share your love of fall! But not of running. I wish I could share your love of running, for my heart's sake.

That cute little mischief making Baxter Boy. I could eat him up. I almost got a kitten last Sunday, but I.T. couldn't quite go for it...ho hum.
