Exceptionally Thankful Thursday

Reasons I'm Thankful:

*Today is my Friday: the last day of school this week.  Can you say, "YA-HOOOOO??!!"  Oh, and if you think you're hearing that in the distance, it's me!  We worked evenings last week for Parent/Teacher Conferences, so this is our reward:  a three day weekend. I have been more than ready.

*My grading should be complete by the end of the day today.  I hate having papers hanging over my head. I really hate having papers hanging over my head going into a weekend.

*Tomorrow, I am headed for a Lake Weekend with two high school friends.  This get-together has become a yearly ritual.  One friend, B, bought a lake house a couple of years ago.  She is gracious to host our weekend.  I've done a little cooking for this year's trip.  I'm thinking there will be hot tub time, hiking, wine, shopping, and lots of talking.  I can't wait for our catch up time!

*The Mr. is headed to the U football game with K.  A colleague of mine will be using my ticket.  He and the Mr. share a love of sports.

*The weather has been cool, windy, and very Halloween like.  I love it!  I've packed away the flip flops, shorts, and tank tops; and I've dug out the long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets.  I haven't worn a coat yet, but we are getting closer.

*I'm taking Halloween candy to my classes today.  I'll send them out the door with a little sugar; in other words, they aren't getting their sugar high until after they leave my class! (You don't teach for 32 years without learning a little something!)

If you don't hear from me for a few days, I'm pretty sure I will be sitting on a lakeside deck with a glass of wine and two old pals.

Oh and I've only been teaching 12 years, but I know that trick also. They left my class with the suckers!:)

During my first year of teaching, I served birthday cupcakes in the middle of the day ~ that was my lesson about sugar! As always I love visiting your blog (like a front porch chat) and i hope you had a marvelous time with your girlfriends. My grade/high school best friend became a first time grandmother today and Geez Louise, it has got me thinking... Love you Mrs. E.
