I Just Turned Around, K...

You're 30, K?  Really?  Looking back, all I can think is that it goes so darn fast!  The little girl days of thumb sucking, snuggling, playing dress up, and reading stories...
You were the big sister who was always a bit of an "old" soul even back then...

Only yesterday, you and L were flower girls.

"Turn around and you're tiny, turn around and you're grown..."  It all went so fast!

I know you haven't exactly been looking forward to turning 30.  You hate to leave your 20's (the decade of college fun and travel), and yet I know the decade ahead will be full of wonderful memories.  You're making a home with your new husband, making some career changes, and will probably be starting a family in this next decade.  Just remember to enjoy where you are right now.  Every stage of your life should be savored.

"You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast

These are the good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this."
Trace Adkins

Take it from someone who knows, K, someday you are going to realize how incredibly fast it goes.  Sometimes we get so caught up in the milestones and the goals, that we forget it is the day-to-day living that crafts our lives.

Take your time.  I know you have destinations in mind, but enjoy the journey.

Happy 30th, daughter!   Someday when you have a child of your own, you'll know how incredibly loved you are!

My student assistants have heard me tell them more than once, "One day you'll turn around and you're 40 and you won't know how it happened." And then to have kids that are 30... Yikes! You're too young for that, CC.

This is a beautiful tribute in words and pictures. Your message is also quite true and the song you chose says it well.
Mine will be 35 in several weeks and expecting her second. You do turn around and they're grown.

A great birthday post....and I sooo know what you mean, how can my boys be 16 & 18 already? You don't know the speed of time until you're a parent. I love seeing old photos & comparing them with how the subjects look now. I fine her eyes have really changed!
