Favorite Moments of the Week

The salsa and jelly making have continued this week. On Sunday we made the 2nd batch of jalapeno jelly. The Mr. wanted this batch to be a bit hotter. Since the mild batch is green, we used red peppers in this batch and the hot jelly is red. (How is that for color coding?)

Our first batch of salsa was mild, too. (The Mr. says it tastes like ketchup. Just because it doesn't blister your lips...!) So on Thursday night, we used the end of the jalapenos in a batch of hot salsa. And man is it ever hot! I think a tablespoon of that with the "ketchup" might make one normal tasting salsa.

I'm thinking that this canning thing is kind of taking on a life of its own. Someone has even loaned the Mr. a pressure cooker. He's looking into canning meat. (Such a guy--not vegetables--meat!) If I master the pressure cooker, I'll let you know. It scares the bejabbers out of me, but the Mr. seems to think he's invincible, so we'll see.
Last Sunday we made a trip to U town on a scenic drive and ran into a vintage car club headed the opposite direction. As if the fields and hills weren't pretty enough, it was a treat to see what the next old car would look like. Talk about a scenic drive--seeing wonderful old cars against that backdrop was pretty impressive. I worked a volleyball match as the libero tracker, attended the tiny town library board meeting, and am going to work a couple of shifts at the bookstore this weekend. Thank goodness, I am finally over the earache and headache that were plaguing me.
I am looking forward to my weekend. On Saturday, the girls and I are having lunch at Panera (my request), followed by a chick flick, double feature matinee. (The Mr. has to work at the State Fair, otherwise I'm sure he'd be thrilled to go with us. Yeah right!) We were trying to remember the last time we did a double matinee, and we think the movies were "Rumor Has It" and "Family Stone." It has been awhile.
.
The big news is the amount of work being done on the new schools. I'll try to post pictures next week. Going to trailer school is easier when you can see the progress on our new buildings. It probably isn't much to see for the rest of you, but to me--it is absolutely beautiful!
.
Happy Friday! I hope you have a wonderful weekend full of people and things you love!

A few years ago my mom and I went on a jelly making spree. I love jalapeno jelly and I like it spicy too.

That cars was amazing.

You are adorable. Glad to hear the earache is gone... is there anything worse?

So like a member of the male species, to think he is invincible! Gald your salsas turned out well...did they all "pop" as required?

Nice jelly. Are those your girls or you and one of your girls? What's with purple shirts in your family? Love it!

I'm happy for you that the school is coming along. And glad your earache has abated. We are battling earache's here, too- headcolds or allergies, I'm not sure which.

I'm so behind on my blog reading and I did not post today. I usually post late, but I am so tired. I don't think I'm going to get one churned out until morning- at least.
