K and CT at first glance were an unlikely duo. K is all about pop culture and modern furnishings. CT is all about the outdoors and mounted deer heads. She is theater and the movies. He is hunting and fishing. She loves singing, dancing, and her college football team. He loves his truck, hunting and fishing trips, and he cheers for the "other" University. K is a teacher and hopes to be an administrator one day. CT is a wildlife biologist and an avid outdoorsman. She has too many shoes and he has too much camouflage. I guess you're getting the picture.
And yet... he has taken her hunting and fishing. She has taken him to concerts. She has dragged him to a couple of college football games, and he talked her into taking a hunter safety course. He cooks. She cleans up. She says he is a man in desperate need of a basement or a man cave for all the mounted deer heads, turkey fans, and shed antlers. He says...well, he probably says a lot of things. I have a feeling he is about to get a whole lot of feminine influence in his life. But then again, she has bagged a deer and gotten her first turkey. I guess it all balances out.
As unlikely a duo as they are, they work. After their 2nd date, L called home and said K was finally dating someone as thoughtful as she was. (L was quite critical of her sister's boyfriends.) K called home after that date and said she was dating someone who was an awful lot like her dad. (They both take pretty good care of her.)
Actually when you look a little further, they have a lot in common, too. They are both kind and quite thoughtful of others. Both have great communication skills and are good with people of all ages. They both teach; K in a high school and CT in all the youth wildlife programs that are a part of his job. They both like small town, rural life; and they both love kids. Family is the most important thing to both of them.
I'm not sure how long this engagement will be (K isn't a big fan of all the wedding details), but I have a hunch it will be a long marriage.
