Fire escape gardens in pots are the norm for New York City. In the country, vegetable gardens abound. It is dry and incredibly hot this summer, and in spite of that-- the son-in-law has tomato plants that are over seven feet tall. You can't tell it from the photo, but the white buckets are about a foot tall, so that should give you some perspective. I've been enjoying some of the fruits of his labor!

You have gotten a lot more rain than we have here in South Central Kansas. Our tomatoes haven't produced worth a darn, even though Randy has faithfully watered them. It's just too hot and there's been no help from Mother Nature. Enjoy the tomatoes for me. I'm dreaming if Cheese Dreams from the old Betty Crocker Cookbook for Boys and Girls.
