Lake Garden

On the last day of our short vacation, the Mr. and I stopped at a garden in a small town near the lake. The front of the garden was nothing special. It looked like a brown privacy fence with an iron gate on a piece of property about the size of an average town lot. When we walked through the gate, there was a mailbox to leave your entry fee. (Honor System) We started down the path thinking it was really nice, but nothing very special. It didn't take long to figure out that this garden was incredible and quite a surprise. There were a lot of trees and plants, benches, and several gazebos. As we wandered, the path started winding and dividing off. We suddenly realized that this garden was a lot larger than it appeared from the street. They had a Japanese garden, a koi pond, waterfalls, arches, bridges, and lots of flowers. A gardener told us this is a popular spot for weddings. It was easy to see why. There were probably 5 or 6 different gazebos or areas where a wedding or event could be held.

We thought it would take about 20 minutes to go through the garden. We ended up spending well over an hour. The garden was a work of art. Come to find out, it was created as a memorial after a man lost his twin brother. What a beautiful memorial!

What a lovely, secret garden, with many smaller gardens tucked here and there inside. It must have been very relaxing walking through it all.

How beautiful that is! I love your photos. The bokeh on your photo of the orange and pink flowers (zinnias maybe?) is lovely!

Loved the quote and what a find. The garden looks like paradise - the photo of the butterfly is a great shot.
