Random Tidbits

*Buggy spent the night "camping" with us on Tuesday night. We had a backyard BBQ on the grill, and a front yard marshmallow roast with the fire ring.  After spending the night in the camper in the front yard, I think she is ready to branch out to real camp sites.

*I now have the password for the e version of our new textbooks. (When you purchase the regular textbooks, you are also buying the online textbook.)  I have spent quite a bit of time setting up mine, watching the tutorials, and trying to figure out how to use the teacher dashboard. (I'm sure I will still be figuring that out next spring!!)

*Reading at the summer library program is a community service project; I did mine today.  I might add that I did mine today for a whopping four kids.  This cool weather must have had everyone sleeping in!

*Dragging out the sewing machine seems to be on the agenda for this weekend.  I am repairing some of the desk pockets that I made for L's Kindergarten class last year.  I have a few other things that need repaired, too.

*Have you ever heard of Cork and Canvas?  Me either.  Groups of eight or more gather for a painting lesson, where they go home with the finished product. (The canvas part of the title.)  Groups take their own wine and snacks in. (Thus, the cork!)  A little wine might help my painting... or not! I'll let you know how that works out.

*I have 3 1/2 weeks until school starts again.  CrAZy!!

And that's all from Easy Street, where the decoration of choice seems to be stacks of books for school. It is embarrassing.  Oh well!  They'll be back at school soon!!

Cork and Canvas sounds good. Chocolate and Canvas sounds better. ;^)

It's not called that here, but I forget what it is called. No wine is offered either. We start back about the same time. Our first teacher day is Aug. 15 and the kid's first day is Aug. 18. We go that full week and then have a week off for fair. At least we got our board to agree to an earlier start but 4 of them refused to budge on having school the week of fair. We just wanted it on Monday and Tuesday. No go!
I'm cool with the week off.
Thanks for your suggestions on reading material. I will esp. seriously consider doing Romeo and Juliet with the general kids. But if I do, it will be after first trying it with the advanced and working out any snags.
