Thanks So Much

This week's thank you very much goes out to:

1.  The two ladies (and I use that word loosely!) who wrestled on the cement side of the pool, trying to push each other in.  Are you kidding me?  It is bad enough when I have to yell at the kids, but the parents too?!  Yep.  Thanks for reminding me why the kids act the way they do.

2.  Negative Nancys and Debbie Downers.  Surely, they know who they are.  They can suck all the air out of the room with their complaining.  Nothing ever goes right in their lives.  They exhaust me!  I do my best to dodge them.  Do you think they know it??  Thanks to them, I'm becoming a good little escape artist!

3. The lovely weather.  We are boiling here.  Sweat rolls.  Crops are burning up in the fields.  Thanks for helping me melt off pounds.  (Yes, it is all water weight!)

4.  To the kids who broke in at the RV park and stole beer, cigarettes, and chew from the convenience store.  Thank you for hammering the ATM machine and wrecking it.  That was a nice touch.  And businesses are all doing so well in this economy, your actions are sure to help them out.  Yeah right.

Actually, this week has been a better week on Easy Street.  I made a start on readying my classroom for the 1st day of school, ended the summer job, and am finishing Eat, Pray, Love just in time to see the movie.  (I'm actually quite mystified how they could turn that book into a movie!)

Things are pretty darn good around here.  And it isn't even the weekend yet!

#2: I'm going through the same thing at one of my schools right now. I eat lunch with one of the ladies, but I moved my time hoping I could avoid it. So, what did she do? She moved hers so I could still eat with them. STUCK.

A bit of sarcasm there.

Often, all we need to do is see the parents to understand why the kids we teach are the way they are.

I have 3 at my lunchtime and I can't change. We are assigned A,B,C according to our classes for 5th period. I may eat in my room this year, if I get all 3 of them again.

One thing about the 90 degrees here is that the 104 degrees in Texas didn't bother me nearly as much as we all thought it would. In my part of this country, everything above 80 is too hot and above 85 is ridiculous. We're still at ridiculous.

I'm actually starting to look forward to that week when I put the room back together, but I still have 3 weeks to go and 4 until the kids show.

I can't believe some people's behavior. We've had several bad examples this week as well. I'm not trying to be righteous but I also would never rob a convenience store either. Harumpf!

I thank the lady that held up the self checkout line because she was texting on her phone... for 2 minutes and then walked out and left her cart in the doorway. I mean, in the doorway so the automatic doors couldn't close.

The kids are back to school in the morning. YIKES!! Where did the summer go? You know just what I mean, I know. I think you haven't started yet and I wanted to wish you a happy end to your summer.

I read Eat,Pray,Love right after my Ex and I separated and it made such an impact on me that I refuse to see the movie (no matter how much I adore Julia!). I'm too scared it would differ as much as Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. What did you think of the book?
